Protecting our Pride is a free self-defense class for LGBTQIA+ adult clients of the Transgender Program. We welcome you to join us regardless of skill level or ability! Learn the basics of self-defense at Legacy Martial Arts, an inclusive, trans-owned kickboxing gym in Bethpage. This exciting trans-led class is an amazing opportunity to come together in community.

Meet the instructors!

Jenna Garcia (they/them) is the owner and head instructor of Legacy Martial Arts, bringing over 23 years of martial arts experience to their teaching. A 3rd-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jenna has also spent more than 10 years training in Muay Thai and boxing, along with extensive experience in Filipino martial arts, Jeet Kune Do concepts, Small Circle Jujitsu, and traditional weapons. Jenna is known for creating a positive, inclusive environment where students feel supported while learning real, effective self-defense skills.

G Vecchio (they/them) is an accomplished martial artist and instructor at Legacy Martial Arts. With 15 years of combined training and teaching experience, they hold a 3rd-degree black belt in Taekwondo, and a 1st-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. G is devoted to developing and sharing their versatile and well-rounded skillset with training that extends across Western Kickboxing, USA Boxing, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do concepts, Filipino martial arts, and traditional sword work. They achieved early success on the local and national circuits as a competitor, highlighted by an exhibition cage kickboxing match at age 14 at the Capitale in Manhattan. Today, they channel their passion into mentoring the next generation of martial artists, through building resilience and confidence, helping them refine their skills and achieve their own goals.
